Fox Run School Breaks Ground on Expansion Project

Opelika City Schools officially broke ground on the Fox Run School expansion project on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Fox Run School, located at 1100 Fox Run Parkway in Opelika.
The $35 million project marks the next phase in the district’s long-term capital improvement plan and represents a major investment in the future of Opelika City Schools. Once complete, the expanded campus will serve all Opelika City Schools fifth and sixth-grade students and accommodate approximately 1,200 students in 59 classrooms.
The addition will add approximately 70,300 square feet to the current campus, expanding Fox Run School’s total footprint to approximately 133,600 square feet. Construction is expected to begin in May 2026 and continue through August 2027.
The expansion comes as Opelika continues to experience steady residential and student enrollment growth. The project will help the district meet future capacity needs, enhance learning environments, and ensure students have access to high-quality educational spaces for years to come.
District and community leaders gathered to celebrate the occasion, including Fox Run School Principal Mrs. April Brock, Superintendent Dr. Kevin Davis, Mayor Eddie Smith, Senator Randy Price, members of the Opelika City Council, members of the Opelika City Board of Education, district leaders, school staff, community partners, and project partners.
Opelika City Schools is grateful to the City of Opelika, Bailey-Harris Construction, SCOUT Program Management, and TurnerBatson Architects for their support in helping bring this vision to life.
