Opelika City Schools Board of Education Selects Finalists for Superintendent Position

The Opelika City Schools Board of Education is pleased to announce two finalists for the position of Superintendent and has scheduled public interviews.
Finalists:
- Dr. Kevin Davis serves as Principal of Muscle Shoals High School in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He brings over 20 years of experience in education, including roles as a teacher, assistant principal, and athletic director. Mr. Davis holds a Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership from Samford University and superintendent certification from the University of Alabama. He was named the 2024 CLAS District 7A North High School Principal of the Year and currently serves as President of CLAS District 7A.
- Dr. Michele Eller is the Superintendent of Sylacauga City Schools in Sylacauga, Alabama. She has more than 25 years of experience in education, including leadership roles as Secondary Instructional Coach, Director of Teaching and Learning, and Assistant Superintendent. Dr. Eller holds a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from Auburn University and is a 2024 recipient of the Southern Regional Education Board District Pacesetter Award and the Sylacauga Chamber of Commerce Woman of the Year.
Public interviews for each candidate will take place at 6:00 p.m. at the Opelika Center for the Performing Arts at Opelika High School. The community is invited to attend.

- Thursday, May 22, 2025: Dr. Michele Eller
The Opelika City Schools Board of Education is committed to selecting the most qualified candidate as the school system's next leader. The board’s goal is to name a new superintendent by June 1, 2025, pending the completion of interviews and final deliberations.
The Opelika City Schools Board of Education values community input and invites members of the public to submit questions for consideration during the superintendent interviews. The deadline to submit questions is Friday, May 16, 2025, at 5 p.m.
