Opelika High School Baseball Team Celebrates New Turf Field with Special First Pitch by Mayor Fuller

In a surprise orchestrated by Head Coach Bart Butler, the Opelika High School baseball team took to the field to discover a brand-new turf surface, a project brought to life through the support of the Opelika City School Board of Education, Mayor Gary Fuller, and the Opelika City Council. The reveal marked a milestone in enhancing the team’s facilities, as city and school officials joined the players in celebrating this exciting upgrade.
Mayor Fuller threw the ceremonial first pitch on the new field with Opelika School Board members to commemorate the occasion. The team showed appreciation by gifting Mayor Fuller a signed baseball for the first pitch.
This new turf field reflects the strong partnership between Opelika High School and the city, reinforcing a shared commitment to providing top-notch facilities for student-athletes.
Opelika High School Principal, Kelli Fischer, said, “Having facilities like this turf field demonstrates our commitment to student-athletes and gives them an environment where they can thrive and succeed.
